Ask Allee ~ Skip Wedding, Attend Reception Only?

Dear Allee,

My cousin is getting married at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. I'm a mom with a busy weekend schedule. Is it okay to skip the ceremony and show up for the evening reception?

Signed,
Busy Mom in Ohio

Dear Busy Mom,

I can completely relate. Weekends are especially challenging for moms. Add to it a wedding at 2pm and a reception a few hours later and that could be a scheduling nightmare. There is nothing that says you must go to both the ceremony and the reception. The ceremony is important, but the reception is the time when the bride and groom can socialize with their guests. I'm sure your cousin will understand you trying to meet the needs of your children, and will appreciate you making time to celebrate with her at a time when she can actually visit with you a spell. In addition, I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself more after knowing you took care of the needs of your family first!

Good luck!
Allee
