My wedding is a little less than eight months away and I've just found out I'm expecting! We want to get married right away, probably before year's end. How can I pull this together so quickly? Help!
Signed, M2B
Dear M2B,
Let me be one of the first to congratulate you and your fiancé! Sure, the timing could have been a tad better, but this reason to celebrate and the wedding is completely doable. Simply remain calm and flexible and accept any help you are offered, and things will fall into place.
Although location is always a factor, you can probably assume most venues are booked for the Christmas to New Year's season, but it never hurts to call and inquire about dates and cancellations! If nothing is available then, have you considered a fall wedding, perhaps Thanksgiving? It's a beautiful time of year, venues should be less busy and if you celebrate the holidays as a family, I'll bet many of your guests may already be coming to visit too. Whenever you decide, it is of critical importance to obtain your location, secure an officiant, find a good photographer, line up entertainment and plan a decent menu (including wedding cake) - appropriate for the right time of day, or course.
A wedding gown can be purchased off the rack, as can your attendant's attire. Despite all of the lead-time built into wedding planning calendars, if the critical 5 items (Venue, Officiant, Food, Music and Photographer) are taken care of, everything else can be managed within a two month period with ease. Remember to utilize any and all resources available to you, and enjoy both journeys - they lead to amazing results.
