Making a Difference
by Jennifer Louden
This is what I know: we all yearn to make a difference in the world. We each aspire to give back, to help the world evolve, to create a better legacy for our children to inherit. We understand that we cannot go on the way we are. We feel a shudder in our bones that tells us there is a better way - to live, to prosper, to connect. A way that we want to, need to, must help create.
This is what I also know:
You are making a difference.
Right now.
And most of the time, we don't see it.
We are each capable of changing the world and what stands in our way?
We make faulty, erroneous assessments of what we are already giving. We wonder, "Why am I here? What difference does it
make what I do?"
What if the first step in making a difference in the world is acknowledging that you are already making a difference? Without being attached or ego driven, but seeing clearly what you are already contributing?
What if the second step was acknowledging, like Jimmy Stewart's character in It's A Wonderful Life, you can never know (unless an angel intervenes) what a difference you do make?
What if the third step is to acknowledge every morning that you are a child of Spirit, part of the whole, connected to all, as important and as unimportant as each of us, bound by life to give your gifts?
Do you have any idea who you are?
How powerful you are? How divine? How vital?
What do you yearn to give?
What are you giving now?
How is it already enough?
This is a strange and humbling time to be alive. We are being called to choose between numbness and aliveness, between resignation and hope, between fear and love. We WILL each find our greatness, I have faith. I hold a strong vision of this community of almost 14000 women and men rising up, using our courage to find our gifts and bestow them on the world.
