Domestic Violence Discussion
with Jennifer Landhuis

18. Question: - I told my mother-in-law that if I ate nuts, it would kill me within minutes and a few hours later she brought me a bowl of cooked nuts and a chocolate with nuts. Am I stupid or is this a threat on my life. I almost died a year earlier, and I am not certain why. Doctors were not sure, called it an allergic reaction to something that I had eaten. I do have a good life insurance with my husband as the soul beneficiary. Please help me clear my mind.

Answer: Not knowing the full history of your situation, I would never want to underestimate a threat to someone. However, it may just be that your mother-in-law is completely insensitive and rude. Domestic violence is classified as a pattern of events so keep the situation in context with other behaviors to determine whether or not she is a threat to you.
