Reusable Gift Bags

You can make these gift bags out of fabric left over from other projects. They are simple, pretty, and encourage reuse! Thank you to Michelle for this great idea!
Materials
- Fabric
- Sewing machine and thread
- Ribbon
Directions:
- Cut the fabric to the size you want it. You are going to make a pillowcase shape. If you know the size of the gift you want to wrap, you can look at that. If you don't have a particular gift in mind, just eyeball the fabric and do what feels right. You need a long length of fabric - the one pictured here is about 52" x 20½".
- Fold over the edges of each of the short ends of the fabric. You may want to fold them over just once, or twice so that they are neater. You can also press them if you want before sewing. Sew each of these edges so that they are neatly hemmed.
- Fold your fabric in half with right sides facing each other. Again, you can use an iron to press the fold if you like. (The gift bag will look inside-out right now; you will turn it back when you are done sewing it.) Sew up each end of the fabric to create your bag.
- Turn it right-side out, and then wrap your gift, adding a ribbon to tie it closed.
Note: These gift bags work really well for wrapping gift baskets. Two examples of gift baskets are pictured here:

A spring/Easter basket for a child, with plastic eggs and little toys.

An aromatherapy basket, including lavender and tea tree essential oils, a spa kit, a candle and sweet almond oil. Pinecones give the basket a finishing touch.
