Wood Plaques
Use your favorite greeting cards or your favorite saying or poem to create these beautiful easy to make wall hangings.
Materials:
- Unfinished wood plaque (available in most craft stores)
- Wood stain
- Modge Podge
- Christmas card, greeting card or printed picture or poem
- Fine sandpaper
- Paint brush
- Decorative hanger
- Matches (if you choose to use a burnt edge like the examples)
Directions:
- Lightly sand then stain the wood plaque following the directions on the can of stain. Let dry.
- Prepare your paper (print out a poem or trim off the cover of a greeting card.)
- If desired, tear the edges of the paper for a rough decorative edge or carefully burn the edges a little bit at a time. Remove most of the burnt edge by rubbing between your fingers. The examples were made with burnt edges.
- Using a moderate amount of modge podge glue the paper to the front of the plaque.
- When dry apply an additional moderate coat of modge podge to seal and give a shiny finish.
- Attach a decorative hanger.
