Christmas Ornament Exchange 2003
Patchwork Balls
Submitted by Miche
Supplies needed:
- Styrofoam ball
- Scraps of assorted Christmas fabrics and Christmas colored fabrics
- Craft glue
- Exacto knife
- Pin and small bit of ribbon
Directions:
- Place two small scraps of fabric right sides together against a Styrofoam ball with a thin layer of glue under the edge.
- Using the dull side of the exacto knife, press against the fabric approximately 1/4 inch from the edge. Both layers of fabric should be pressed firmly into the Styrofoam ball.
- Open the "seam" and add another piece of fabric right side against the right side of one of the fabric scraps in the ball, add a thin layer of glue and press the next "seam" into the ball.
- Repeat until the entire ball is covered. You may need to trip scraps to fit the spaces you are trying to fill. Just remember to not use the same color or pattern next to another piece of that pattern.
- Make a loop with the ribbon and using a generous amount of glue in one of the cracks in the ball pin the ribbon deep into the crack to create a hanger.
