Christmas Ornament Exchange 2003
Swirling Colors Ornament
Submitted by Caryl
Supplies needed:
- Glass ball ornament (I found mine at a craft store.)
- Acryllic paints in 2-3 colors
- Ribbon in a coordinating color
- Paper bowl, muffin tin or egg carton (for drying)
Directions:
- Open up the glass ball ornament. Drip some paint into the ornament, swirling it around to create interesting patterns. Use two or three colors. You can cover the entire inside of the ornament, or leave some of the clear glass showing.
- For the first few minutes, rest the ornament on different sides to let it run into areas where you'd like color. Then rest the ornament upside down on a paper bowl, muffin tin (perhaps with paper cups for easy clean up), or egg carton, letting it sit overnight. The extra paint will run out of the ornament.
- The next day, turn the ornament right side up, and let it dry for a bit longer.
- Add ribbon to your ornament, using it to make a bow at the top. You can secure the ribbon with the top that comes with the glass ball ornament. Then loop some more ribbon through the wire for hanging.
