Gingerbread House Contest

Meg

The house is a traditional gingerbread cookie, with royal icing used as glue/trim. The tin roof effect was created using Reception Sticks candy; a soft candy dipped in dark chocolate. Yummm!! The roof line and house corners are candy canes, while the brick chimney is hand-laid cinnamon hearts. Tootsie roll Yule Logs wait by the front door to be used inside. The door and windows are tinted frosting painted on with a small pastry brush, then outlined with white frosting. The wreath was created by slicing a spearmint leaf jelly candy thin, gluing the "leaves" in the shape of a wreath, and then attaching it to the side of the house. A cinnamon heart serves as the bow.
